Working as a Project Engineer, you will be the support person for various engineering projects in Instrumentation, Process Automation Measurement & Analytics (PAMA) in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. Reporting to the Design & Sustaining Manager, you will make technical recommendations in various phases of projects to ensure successful delivery of project deliverables on time, within budget and in line with quality and safety guidelines.

Your responsibilities

  • Assisting project managers and project lead engineers in technical reviews and discussions with various contributing groups, partners and vendors
  • Assisting in creating 3D model parts and assemblies that will help build the required information for final build applications
  • Assisting in configuration management in PLM (Product Life Cycle Management) system
  • Creating and delivering the work plan as well as risk assessments relevant to your engineering discipline
  • Helping internal/external customers resolve technical issues
  • Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing excellent service at all stages of the project
  • Evaluates, selects and adapts standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform tasks for conventional projects with moderately complex features
  • Product Improvement evaluations, reviews and/ updates as required by Product Managers/Project Managers
  • Review and assist in developing standard processes and work instructions
  • Work with CAD (Computer Aided Design) SMEs (Subject Matter Expert​) and Technical Experts to develop, implement and maintain use of MBE (​Management by Exception) principles in all designs

Your background

  • High School / GED AND 7 years of related experience
  • OR
  • Associates Degree in a technical field AND 5 years of related experience
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Technical Degree/Certification and minimum 3 years of related experience or 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering/Design role
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools
  • Experience with Project driven and Product driven workload balance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Sustaining Design and MBE methods, processes and tools while using 3D modeling Software to complete Product design
  • Product Lifecycle Management experience a plus
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • General knowledge of ASME/ANSI/ISO standards
  • General knowledge of material/coating/manufacturing processes/testing processes
  • Technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Maintain detailed documentation
  • A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Engineering practices and principles a plus
  • Experience in implementing internal controls to verify that processes meet requirements and making sure that control plans are applied and effective in mitigating risks a plus
  • Working knowledge of final QC checks, a plus
  • Working knowledge of TP’s and Test Fixtures as required for sustained products a plus
  • A strong desire to learn and grow, staying engaged and curious at all levels of projects
  • A high level of self motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
  • A collaborative, solution focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
